Mayor, police chief help kick off Project Red Ribbon campaign
QUINCY — Quincy Mayor Michael Troup and Adam Yates, chief of the Quincy Police Department, kicked off this year’s Project Red Ribbon for the Quinsippi Chapter of Mother Against Drunk Driving on Monday morning on the west side of City Hall.
Troup and Yates each tied a red ribbon to their official autos. The nationwide Project Red Ribbon campaign asks motorists to tie a red ribbon to their auto as a visual reminder to not drink and drive. This is the 34th year for the local project, which runs until Jan. 1, 2023.
Free ribbons are available at the lobby of Quincy City Hall, and more will soon be available at area banks and credit unions. Students in eighth grade will receive ribbons to take home next week.
