QUINCY — Ever wanted to ride your bike across the Quincy bridges? Blessing Health System is providing that opportunity by sponsoring the sixth annual “Moonlight Ride for Hunger” on Sept. 10.

This event will begin with registration at 5:30 p.m. in Clat Adams Park and the ride starting at 7 p.m. The cost to participate is $35 per rider if registration is completed by Sept. 9. The price will increase to $40 per rider on Sept. 10. Children ages 10-16 ride free with a paid adult. All riders must wear a helmet and have a light on their bike. Children under the age of 10 are not allowed to participate due to safety precautions

Riders of all experience levels can choose from two different ride lengths — four miles or 12 miles with the
highlight of the ride being getting to your bike across the bridges of Quincy.

The previous events have thrilled more than 400 riders and raised more than $120,000 to fight the local war on hunger while also collecting food and hygiene items for the Horizons Food Pantry.

“We are building a community table at Horizons, where all are welcome and lives are restored,” Sarah Stephens, executive director of Horizons Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry, said in a press release. “This family fun event helps expand our reach and make more room at the table for our hungry neighbors.”

Registration is available online at wgca.org or at Madison-Davis Bicycles at Eighth and Jefferson.

For more information on this event, contact Bob Daly at 217-242-2278 or by email at
