Pay It Forward to offer four emergency life-saving training classes in August

QUINCY — The Quincy chapter of Pay It Forward will offer four emergency life-saving training classes during August. The classes will be held on Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. on Aug. 9, 16, 23 and 30 at the Quincy Public Library, 526 Jersey. The classes are free. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

The first class on Aug. 9 will address Narcan training. Participants will learn how to be safe when responding to a drug overdose, how to administer Narcan and where it can be obtained.

The session on Aug. 16 will provide information on gun shot response and tourniquet training. People will be provided with information on how to respond when gun shots ring out in their neighborhood and how to apply a tourniquet. A free tourniquet will be given to all participants who register in advance for the class.

Neighborhood Watch training will be the topic of the class on Aug. 23. Topics to be covered are protecting your neighborhood, what to watch for and the benefits of having a doorbell camera. A free Neighborhood Watch sign will be given to people who register in advance.

The training topic of the last class on Aug. 30 will cover suicide prevention. Learn the signs of suicide in loved ones and learn how to help them. Guest speaker for this class will be Anna Keller.
