Pothole of the month from Delta Tire

Potholes are the top of conversation when it comes to complaints about local government…and it’s not just Quincy. Nearly half of all major roads across the country are in decay. The nation’s roads are home to around 55 million potholes.
One million of those can be found in Quincy. Ok, that fact is not true…but here are some facts to sink in:
- The American Automobile Association (AAA) estimates that potholes cost U.S. drivers $3 billion annually in vehicle repairs. Talk about in the hole.
- A Google Trends study found that Washington has the worst pothole problems in the United States, followed by Rhode Island and Minnesota. Illinois ranks 13th.
- A pothole located in Long Beach might be considered one of the most expensive potholes to exist after a jury awarded nearly $17.5 million in damages to a woman who stepped in a pothole outside a Zaferia neighborhood supermarket in May 2020. In that case, the woman developed a rare, incurable pain condition.
Yikes.
Potholes put the sink in stink when it comes to unwanted expense. But we want to celebrate the bumps in life with a contest. Whether it’s a tiny tire tickler or a full-blown sinkhole, we want to see the worst (best?) road craters Quincy and the surrounding area have to offer.
So we are introducing a new feature … (drumroll) … Pothole of the Month!
