Proceeds from Terry Anastas Ultimate Ride on Saturday to benefit Bill Klingner Trail
QUINCY — Friends of the Trails is having its annual fundraising bicycle ride, the Terry Anastas Ultimate Ride, on Saturday, July 8 at The Dock. This is family-friendly recreational bike ride is named after the late Terry Anastas, a longtime Friends of the Trails board member and supporter of trail development.
Help the Friends of the Trails raise $23,000 in 2023, with 100% of proceeds going toward phase five of the Bill Klingner Trail — which will extend the trail from Bob Bangert Park to Lincoln Park. After the ride, enjoy refreshments, a free BBQ lunch, live music and 50/50 raffle at The Dock.
The ride will have multiple routes:
- 7-mile “Family Ride” — This route is on a dedicated bike path and the Bill Klingner Trail.
- 12-mile “Poker Run” — This adult friendly route stops at Instant Replay, Tangerine Bowl, Harrison Pub, Quincy Brewing Company and The Dock. Stop at all five bars to receive a poker hand at the end of the ride. Highest hands win prizes including $150+ in gift cards, coolers and more. Participate on a bicycle, motorcycle or personal vehicle.
- 62-mile “Metric Century Ultimate Ride” — A flat 100 km out-and-back ride to Warsaw. SAG vehicle will be available along the route.
- Tricycle races — Held by Quincy Children’s Museum, this event is open for kids and adults alike. Tricycles will be provided, but participants can bring their own. Register at event.

The event schedule is shown below:
- 7 a.m. – Start of Metric Century
- 10 a.m. – Start of Family Ride and Poker Run
- 10:45 a.m.-2 p.m. – Free BBQ lunch available (cooked and served by Quincy Rotary)
- 1 p.m.- Start of tricycle races (hosted by Quincy Children’s Museum)
- 2 p.m. – Announcement of Poker Run prizes
