QUINCY — The Quincy Astronomy Club will present a class at 7 p.m. Thursday Oct. 27, at John Wood Community College in Room A021. The topic is about unusual and interesting things happening in the solar system. There will be a discussion about each of the planets and some of their moons.

Guest lecturer Mike Lawrence is an engineer with a long interest in astronomy who does observations with his own telescopes and travels to locations to better observe astronomical events.

The club was formed by local amateur astronomers and seeks to teach, explore and expand minds about space and our universe. Lectures are held monthly, usually on the last Thursday of the month. The club also holds monthly evening observing sessions. These are scheduled as weather and observing conditions permit. Local amateurs with their telescopes guide the observing sessions.

To find Room A021, drive to the southeast corner of JWCC and enter at the southeast doors. For more information, contact Robert Weirather at 217-242-7366 or newideas21@comcast.net.
