QUINCY — The Quincy branch of the American Association of University Women will have a scholarship fundraising event at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 4 at 1680 Maine. The garden party event will feature catered food and drink and will be held in a formal garden setting.

The AAUW awards scholarships annually to women attending local colleges and universities.  Reservations are required and may be made by calling 217-653-8683. The cost is $30 per person.

AAUW is a group of university and college professional women who meet monthly in Quincy to promote women’s equality, education and solutions to economic barriers. A program is presented at each meeting and might include an author, historian, school administrator, etc.  Other interest groups include a book club, Eating Well and an excursion club.

The group also has male members. Scholarships are awarded to women attending Quincy University, Culver-Stockton College, John Wood Community College and Blessing-Rieman.  Current funds are low, so this fundraiser is important to continuation of the project.

To become a member, contact the membership chairperson at 217-242-5808 or any AAUW member.
