QUINCY — Quincy Noon Kiwanis Club was the host of the Kenneth “Ken” Bigelow Day at Camp Saukenauk on July 18 in partnership with the Salvation Army kids program.

The program was designed to combine developmental learning, mentorship, team building and more in a fun atmosphere where kids will feel comfortable learning, being active and making new friends. Each year in July, kids engage in the events of swimming, fishing and hiking.

The event is named after a lifelong and locally famous Kiwanian. Bigelow was a member of the Quincy Noon Kiwanis Club from February 1962 until he died in July 2010. He served as Kiwanis president and as Lt. Governor of Division 29 of the II District of Kiwanis International. He always made it clear that taking the Salvation Army kids to Camp Saukenauk was his favorite Kiwanis activity.
