Quincy Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy course to begin Thursday

QUINCY — The Quincy Police Department is filling the fall 2022 class of the Citizen Police Academy, a 10-week course on Wednesdays or Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. Classes begin on Thursday, Sept. 8 and run through Nov. 10. A graduation banquet is held at the completion of the academy.

Participants spend time at the firing range, see the Emergency Response Team and canine unit in action, conduct mock vehicle stops and take part in other practical exercises. 

The course is designed for participants to experience the realism of policing. While in the program, participants can ride along with an officer on patrol.

This course is free of charge and will provide citizens with a basic knowledge of all aspects of the police profession.

Course participants must live in Quincy, work in Quincy, attend school in Quincy or own property in Quincy. Applicants must also be at least 18 years of age.
