Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois establishes fund with Community Foundation

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, has established a Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois Fund with The Community Foundation Serving West Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri.

The mission of RMHCCI is to provide a supportive place for families to stay while their child is receiving medical care. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois has been providing since 1986 a place in central Illinois for families to stay while their child is receiving medical care. RMHCCI has a house in Springfield and opened a house in Peoria in 2019. The creation of the fund will support the financial needs of RMHCCI so it may continue its important work in our community. 

“We all know someone who has been blessed by the compassionate services of Ronald McDonald House. The Community Foundation is proud to partner with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois to provide a way for local donors to support its important mission,” said Catherine Meckes, CEO of the Community Foundation. “Each year, dozens of our local families from West-Central Illinois are provided free, supportive accommodations during a challenging time in their lives. The Community Foundation shares in RMHC’s values of nurturing our children and keeping families close.”

The Community Foundation will invest the initial gift from RMHCCI so the fund grows over time, while also administering an annual grant distribution to RMHCCI.  

“RMHCCI is committed to enabling family-centered care ensuring families are fully supported and actively involved in their child’s care. Families are never asked to pay when they stay in our facilities. The establishment of this fund is another avenue that will assist us in providing a ‘home away from home’ when it is needed most,” said Amber Kaylor, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois.

RMHCCI also is investing and continuing to support community foundations in Central Illinois — the Community Foundation of Central Illinois, the Community Foundation of Macon County and the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln.
