QUINCY — The Quincy Astronomy Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 29, at John Wood Community College in Room D022/023. The topic for the meeting is Tools of the Trade. The lecturers will be Bob Weirather and John Baird.

The meeting will give the public the opportunity to learn more about the tools and equipment that backyard astronomers use to view the heavens. Beginners can learn about what equipment is best for them to start with, and seasoned amateurs can contemplate upgrading their equipment.

The Astronomy Club was formed by local amateur astronomers. It seeks to teach, explore and expand minds about space and the universe. Lectures are held monthly, usually on the last Thursday of the month. Monthly evening observing sessions are held and scheduled as weather and observing conditions permit. Local amateurs with their telescopes guide the observing sessions.
