United Community Credit Union appoints Distin as new CEO

QUINCY — United Community Credit Union recently appointed Sarah Distin as president and CEO. Distin had been serving as interim CEO following the resignation of Mark Dietrich earlier this year.

Distin joined the credit union in 2008 as operations manager. From 2013 up to her recent appointment, she has served as vice president of operations.

In a press release, Distin said “We have a remarkable team here and one that is ready to serve our communities today, tomorrow and into the future. It’s truly a pleasure to serve our members and this team as CEO.”

When searching for the next CEO, the UCCU board of directors didn’t have to look far.

“The board has observed Sarah’s dedication to UCCU and its members. The well-being of our members has always been her main focus. We look forward to her continued dedication and leadership moving forward into the future,” board chairman Andy Doellman said.

In Distin’s 14-year career at UCCU, she has played a significant part in the credit union’s growth from $34.5 million to $121 million in total assets. The number of members has nearly doubled from 5,382 to more than 10,000.

Growth, however, goes beyond numbers, according to Distin. She sees growth in terms of community impact and the success of her team.

“I will ensure we continually develop our team to reach new heights and achieve personal growth.
