Woolam wins award at Illinois 4-H state awards program

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Lance Woolam from Central Adams Firecrackers 4-H Club was an award winner at the Illinois 4-H state awards program on April 9 at the I Hotel and Conference Center. Woolam also is a member of the Adams County 4-H Federation and Adams County STEM SPIN Club.

Woolam was awarded the Emerald Leadership Experience Award and received a food advocacy grant to develop a program for children in need of nutritional support at a local food pantry. He is an advocate for Scott’s Law at the community level by giving and publishing speeches made available to state and national organizations. He also enjoys exhibiting projects about electricity, small engines, natural resources and public speaking.

In a press release, Woolam said, “4-H is an opportunity for young people of all backgrounds to learn about themselves and to grow as individuals, in skills gained in project areas and overall in leadership. 4-H gives you the opportunity to see that you can make a difference.” 

Woolam hopes to attend the University of Illinois with a major in engineering.
