Adams Electric returns capital credits to City of Quincy, John Wood Community College
QUINCY — The City of Quincy and John Wood Community College’s capital credit refunds were part of the cooperative’s recent distribution of approximately $500,000 in capital credits for the remainder of 2002 and 85 percent of 2003.
In a press release, Adams Electric’s general manager Jim Thompson said, “Capital credits are an integral part of the financing of cooperatives and a very positive part of being a member of a not-for-profit electric utility.”
Quincy Regional Airport, an account of the City of Quincy, and John Wood Community College are both served by Adams Electric Cooperative. Thompson presented a check for $2,673.88 in capital credits to Mayor Mike Troup for the City of Quincy. Thompson presented John Wood Community College’s capital credit check of $6,425.55 to President Bryan Renfro.
Members of cooperatives pay for service at cost and share in the annual margins by earning capital credits.
