American Legion elects officers; placing of flags at Sunset Veterans Cemetery to be held Wednesday

QUINCY — American Legion Post 37 will hold its annual placing of the flags beginning at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, at Sunset Veterans Cemetery to honor veterans buried at Sunset Veterans Cemetery on the Illinois Veterans Home campus.
Volunteers will place American flags along the graves of veterans buried at the cemetery. Members of the public are welcome and encouraged to bring a screwdriver to aid with flag placement.
Rain date for the event is May 22.
The Legion also recently elected its officers for the 2025-26 season. They are:
- Commander – Barbara Fletcher
- Senior Vice Commander – Jesus Delgado
- Junior Vice Commander – Mark Philpot
- Adjutant – Darrell Schrage
- Finance Officer – Paul Havermale
