Annual event held March 20 by Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce recognizes businesses, individuals

MACOMB, Ill. — The Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce held its 2024 annual awards event on March 20 at Park Place to acknowledge the efforts of several members, citizens and community leaders who played a vital part in the 2024 business community.

Awards were presented to:

  • Chamber Ambassador of the Year—Alexa Shaw, McDonough District Hospital
  • Chairman’s Award—Eric Blakeley, All Pets Veterinary Clinic, Macomb Dry Cleaners 2.0
  • Nonprofit/Social Service Organization Award—Humane Society of McDonough County
  • Citizen of the Year—Kim Pierce, Macomb Area Economic Development Corporation
  • Business of the Year—The Community News Brief & Market.

The chamber also recognized outgoing board member Mike Woodrum of Woodrum Automotive.

A Taste of Macomb giveway prize package was done by random drawing and featuring more than $1,000 worth of gift certificates donated by McDonalds, Bold Brew House, Chick’s on the Square, Dairy Queen, Domino’s, The Old Dairy, Sports Corner at 124, Jackson Street Pub, Jimmy John’s, Larry A’s Pizza, McAlister’s Deli, Haymakers, Refreshment Services Pepsi, Gelsosomo’s Pizzeria and The Wine Sellers. It was was awarded to Lori Bilbrey of Regional Office of Education No. 26.

In a press release, Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce executive director Steven Brody said, “It is always wonderful to recognize chamber members for their contributions to the community. Their humility due to their unexpectedness in winning makes it even more special. I am thankful for everyone who attended and want to especially thank the staff at Park Place for their wonderful venue, excellent staff and delicious food.”

Business of the Year nominations were Good Food Collaborative, Community News Brief, Woodrum Automotive, Forgottonia Brewing, The Wine Sellers and McDonough County Health Department.

Business Leader of the Year nominations were Mark Twomey, superintendent of Macomb School District 185 and Lynne Campbell with Community News Brief.
