At least 16 vehicles — many unlocked with keys inside — burglarized Monday in Pike County

BARRY, Ill. — A rash of vehicles, many of them left unlocked with their keys inside, were burglarized, damaged or stolen on Monday in Pike County.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Department began receiving calls in the morning of Monday, July 15, from people in the Barry, Kinderhook and New Canton area, reporting their vehicles had been burglarized. Pike County Sheriff David Greenwood reported that as of Friday, July 19, at least 16 cars had been broken in to. Some of the cars were damaged. Four cars were moved or stolen, and each of them have been recovered. 

Greenwood said other communities outside of Pike County have experienced these same type of incidents and are believed to be tied together. The investigations are ongoing.

If the information you provide leads to the arrests of the people involved, you can receive a cash reward. You can remain anonymous.
