Blessing Health offering no-cost cholesterol screening on June 26

QUINCY — Registrations are being taken for a no-cost cholesterol screening sponsored by Blessing Health from 7 to 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26 at the Blessing Resource Center, 420 N. 34th St.

An appointment and a 12-hour fast before the test are required to participate. Visit events.blessinghealth.org and search “cholesterol.” After finding the proper page, click the blue “Register” button at the top right of the screen. Registration can also be completed by calling 217-277-5000 or stopping by the Blessing Resource Center.

The screening will measure levels of the following in the blood:

• LDL, sometimes called “bad” cholesterol
• HDL, sometimes called “good” cholesterol
• total cholesterol
• triglycerides (fat)
• blood glucose (sugar)

The results of a cholesterol test are part of the information needed to determine a person’s current heart health status and future risk for heart disease and diabetes.
