Blessing Health offering no-cost cholesterol screening Wednesday

QUINCY — Registrations are being taken for Blessing Health’s no-cost cholesterol screening from 7 to 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the Blessing Resource Center, 420 N. 34th.

A 12-hour fast before the test is required, as is an appointment. Visit events.blessinghealth.org and search “cholesterol.” Click the blue “Register” button at the top right of the screen. An appointment can be made by calling 217-277-5000 or stopping by the Blessing Resource Center.

The test will measure levels of the following in the blood:

• LDL, sometimes called “bad” cholesterol
• HDL, sometimes called “good” cholesterol
• total cholesterol
• triglycerides (fat)
• blood glucose (sugar)

The results of a cholesterol test are part of the information needed to determine a person’s current heart health and future risk for heart disease.
