QUINCY — Some area residents who see Blessing Health providers for their healthcare have reported they have received letters from their insurance plans stating that their provider is out-of-network.

Blessing officials said earlier this week in a press release those letters are being sent in error. As insurance companies work to improve their data management systems, Blessing is experiencing instances of patients receiving such notices in error. Other health systems have reported similar issues.

Letters which Blessing Health is aware at this time have been generated in error by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and United Healthcare.

A patient receiving a letter stating that their Blessing Health provider is out-of-network should call the Blessing Resource Center at 217-277-5000. Blessing will then work with the appropriate insurance companies to advocate for patients and work to resolve these errors.

Blessing regrets any inconvenience these letters generated by insurance companies have caused patients.
