Blessing Health System Medical Staff Services team members present at national conferences

QUINCY — Members of the Blessing Health System Medical Staff Services department were selected to make presentations at two recent national conferences. Their selection was based on the strength of prospective presentation summaries they submitted to conference organizers in a competitive process.
The Blessing representatives made two presentations at the 48th educational conference of the National Association of Medical Staff Services, attended by more than 1,800 people.
Kimberly Olson, director of medical staff and enrollment operations; and Allyson Riley, payer enrollment specialist, presented “Enrollment Triage: Executive Buy-In and Direction.” The presentation detailed how Blessing Health System’s medical staff services team worked with senior executives to more effectively prioritize timelines for incoming providers and set realistic expectations for medical practice start dates, insurance company approvals of provider and more.
The second presentation involved Olson and Megan Sherwood, senior credentialing specialist, detailing Blessing’s process to create a delegated credentials program for its providers and voluntarily seeking National Committee for Quality Assurance accreditation for the program. Delegated credentialing is when an insurance company entrusts a group or hospital to verify a healthcare provider’s qualifications instead of the insurance company doing it directly. This speeds up the process so doctors and advanced practice providers can treat patients sooner and reduces duplication.
At the second conference, the MD-Staff Educational Conference attended by more than 500 people, Olson, Riley and credentialing specialist Allison Housewright presented, “Integrating the Credentialing and Payer Enrollment Workflows,” detailing how Blessing’s credentialing and enrollment staffs began working together as part of a seamless process.
Other health care providers presenting at this conference were Johns Hopkins Medicine and the Henry Ford Health Systems.
“Blessing might be a relatively small health system, but our credentialing and payer enrollment teams and processes are best in industry,” Olson said in a press release. “It was such an honor to get to share the amazing work and accomplishments of our team on a national level.”
