QUINCY — To increase options available to pregnant women in the region to access care in the ways they wish, Blessing Health is hosting a free International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA) Professional Birth Doula Workshop on Friday, Oct. 11, and Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Blessing Business Center, 4919 Oak, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days, with lunch provided.

It is open to anyone age 18 and older. Healthcare experience is not required.

Certified birth doulas are trained to attend and support the physical, emotional, informational and social needs of women in labor. They offer new parents advocacy, guidance and referrals to community resources. These resources are varied, including but not limited to self-care, lactation and parenting support.

This program is limited to 10 participants. Course participants will be selected from among those completing and submitting an interest form.
