Blessing of the Bikes set for Saturday, will benefit Muddy River Riders book bag program
QUINCY — Muddy River Riders will hold its ninth annual Blessing of the Bikes from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 27, on the Knights of Columbus grounds, 700 S. 36th.
Blessing of the Bikes is a fundraiser for the book bag program the club organizes every fall and also an event to raise motorcycle awareness. Activities throughout the day will include raffles, music and other special events. Vendors will also be on site.
In the fall, bookbags full of school supplies are taken to area schools to be handed out to less fortunate children who come to school without the supplies they need. The club filled more than 500 bags last year and distributed them to elementary buildings and Head Start in Quincy as well as Payson, Liberty and Camp Point in Illinois, as well as Hannibal schools and Highland Elementary School in Missouri. The club also takes supplies to the LaGrange, Mo., Youth Center for their back-to-school night.
Area businesses or people can help sponsor the event by contacting the organization for more information at rider@muddyriverriders.com. Muddy River Riders Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation so donations are tax deductible.
