Candlelight tours will be scheduled between 5 and 7 p.m. on Dec. 15, 16, 22, 23 and 26. Tour times are 5 p.m.; 5:20 p.m.; 5: 40 p.m. 6 p.m.; 6:20 p.m.; and 6:40 p.m. Tours will begin in the society’s Visitors Center across the alley from the Mansion at 425 S. 12th. The popular annual tours are free and give the public the opportunity to view the historic home decked out in its holiday finery. Decorated trees will appear in every room of the first floor, and live poinsettias will further enhance the seasonal décor.

Gov. and Mrs. John Wood will welcome guests to the mansion. Several area musicians will be featured. Those scheduled to perform are:

  • singer and guitarist Logan Kammerer Dec. 15;
  • the Eventide Singers on Dec. 16;
  • string students from the Javaux Music School on Dec. 22;
  • the string duo of John Basinger, violin, and Dave Hermann, viola, on Dec. 23;
  • members of the Quincy Symphony Chorus on Dec. 26.

Toys from the society’s collection will be on display and featured in the décor. Light refreshments will add to the festive nature of the event. Docents will be on hand to discuss the toys.

Reservations should be made by contacting the HSQAC office at 217-222-1835 or info@hsqac.org or susid@hsqac.org.
