Coatsburg recognized as a Smart Rural Community by NTCA and Adams Fiber

COATSBURG, Ill. — Coatsburg has been designated as a Smart Rural Community (SRC) by NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association, powered by Adams Fiber. This \ recognition celebrates Coatsburg’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology to drive innovation, support growth and enhance the quality of life for its residents.

The announcement was made during a special event at Coatsburg’s village board meeting, where representatives from Adams Fiber presented the award to Coatsburg Mayor Ronald Shanholtzer and the Village Board. This recognition highlights Coatsburg’s progressive efforts to connect its community through reliable, high-speed broadband.

“This designation showcases Coatsburg’s vision of a thriving, connected community committed to innovation and growth,” said Bridgette Northern, director of Marketing at Adams Fiber, in a press release. “We are honored to partner with Coatsburg and commend their leadership on this incredible achievement. Thanks to the advanced fiber network we’ve built, opportunities for residents and businesses alike are limitless.”

Adams Fiber has invested more than $775,000 in Coatsburg’s fiber infrastructure, ensuring the village is equipped with future-proof, high-speed connectivity. This vital investment enables Coatsburg to elevate education, making remote and online learning more accessible as well as boost economic development, connecting local businesses to new markets. It also improves healthcare delivery through telehealth services.

Coatsburg will join NTCA’s national Smart Rural Community program, gaining recognition on the official SRC website and within NTCA’s outreach materials. Coatsburg also received an official Smart Rural Community road sign, a certificate of recognition and marketing resources to amplify this achievement.
