QUINCY — The Quincy Service Club Foundation recently presented a check for $10,000 to Mississippi Valley Council Scout Executive Ricci Dula.

Fire destroyed a classroom and shooting range at Saukenauk Scout Reservation near Mendon on May 9. The fire also destroyed the camp’s supply of shotguns and ammunition. The Service Club’s donation will help rebuild the shooting range.

Saukenauk Scout Reservation was purchased in 1953 by The Quincy Noon Kiwanis, Quincy Rotary Club and Quincy Exchange Club and gifted to what is now the Mississippi Valley Council of Scouting America. The first summer camp was held at the camp in 1954. Saukenauk is home to Camp Callahan, a summer experience for mentally and physically challenged kids and adults.
