QUINCY — A gift from a donor who did not want to reveal their identity will allow Housing Solutions Quincy to kick off a campaign to add to Quincy’s supportive housing stock. The gift will allow a one-to-one match for the first $50,000 in donations.

In a press release, Kevin Krummel, one of the organizers of Housing Solutions Quincy, said, “This is such a generous donation. This will jump-start our efforts to collect enough money for the YWCA to buy a house. We want the YWCA to have more housing options for its clients in need, especially when a family is suddenly homeless because of displacement from an unlivable apartment,”

Housing Solutions Quincy, a group of community volunteers, is dedicated to raising funds that can be used to increase the number of supportive housing options. Supportive housing provides low-income people with a place to live while caseworkers help them gain skills and resources that will enable them to move into permanent housing.

Housing Solutions Quincy is partnering with the YWCA of Quincy, which will secure and manage the properties while providing caseworkers for the clients.

The YWCA has been serving Quincy in various ways since 1905. For more than 20 years, the YWCA has provided housing assistance to residents who experience housing insecurity.

“With the support of like-minded community members, the YWCA is making a difference in providing secure and supportive housing to those who are in the most need,” said Ryan Roberts, executive director of the YWCA.  “We can also accept donations of real property or professional services.”

Gifts may have a tax benefits for donors.

People wishing to donate should contact Roberts at 217 221-9922 or mail donations to the YWCA, 325 S. Eighth, Suite G, Quincy, IL, 62301. Mark donations as if they are for Housing Solutions Quincy.
