MOUNT STERLING, Ill. — Winiban Irigoyen, a warehouse employee lead at Dot Foods’ Mount Sterling headquarters, recently won the 2024 RefrigiWear Warehouse Hero of the Year Award.

This award honors people who demonstrate exceptional leadership, productivity, attitude and ingenuity in the warehouse industry. This marks the second consecutive year a Mount Sterling Dot employee has received this national recognition.

RefrigiWear solicits nominations annually from managers across the United States who witness their employees’ extraordinary contributions firsthand. From hundreds of nominations, a panel of judges selects 28 winners. Each winner earns a spot in the RefrigiWear Warehouse Heroes calendar and receives a personalized package of RefrigiWear gear.

Irigoyen, a longtime Dot employee, is a resident of Beardstown. He is known for his commitment to his work and the positive impact he has made at the Mount Sterling facility, as demonstrated by his many accomplishments. He was the overall champion of Dot’s 2022 Forklift National Competition, which tests the skills and expertise of warehouse personnel across Dot’s 15 distribution centers in the U.S. and Canada.

Irigoyen follows in the footsteps of another Mount Sterling Dot employee, Richard “Pops” Vavra of Hannibal, Mo., who won RefrigiWear’s top prize in 2023.
