Quincy Museum to be site of free ‘Easter Eggstravaganza’ on Saturday

QUINCY —The Quincy Museum will hold its annual free Easter Eggstravaganza from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 19. The event is expanded this year to celebrate The Quincy Museum’s 60th anniversary.
Event highlights are:
- Easter Egg Hunt — First hunt begins around 1 p.m. with additional hunts throughout the afternoon-open to children ages 1-12-4,000 eggs
- Meet the Easter Bunny
- Food trucks — Big Bros. BBQ and Shandi’s Coffee and Creams.
- Photo booth
- Two bounce houses
- Games — traditional and Easter-themed activities.
- DJ
- Museum tours
The museum will be open throughout the event with one-day only membership specials to celebrate its 60th anniversary. Anyone who buys a family membership (only $35) will receive free kids meal vouchers for Texas Roadhouse — one per child, valued at $16 each.
New exhibits celebrate the museum’s 60th anniversary and the Adams County Bicentennial. Exhibit highlights include the restoration of the mansion and the pre-history of Adams County, with 400-million-year-old artifacts and mammoth teeth on display.
“Our Easter Eggstravaganza has become a beloved tradition for local families,” Emily Pursley, executive director of The Quincy Museum, said in a press release. “We’re excited to expand the event during our 60th anniversary year. Come for the egg hunt, stay all day for the fun. Bring a lawn chair.”
This Easter egg hunt is one of the largest in the region with 4,000 eggs. The museum is looking for volunteers, especially from 2 to 4 p.m. Volunteers can sign up at https://www.thequincymuseum.org/volunteer.html .
Celebrating its 60th year, the Quincy Museum tells stories of Quincy’s past, present and future while showcasing Victorian-era architecture, natural history, rotating exhibits and children’s educational programs. The museum is open for tours Sunday through Wednesday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. It also is available for private rentals.
