Fourteen local students newest recipients of Masonic scholarships; 22 more renewed

QUINCY — The Valley of Quincy, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, in conjunction with the Grand Lodge of Illinois of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, has awarded 36 new and renewal scholarships to local college students, totaling over $77,600. Statewide, more than 461 scholarships were awarded, totaling more than $972,600.
The new scholarship awardees from the Quincy area are:
- Alex Ator of Pittsfield attending Michigan State University
- Ali Ballinger of Arenzville attending Lincoln Land College
- Jonathon Barfield of Mount Sterling attending Iowa State University
- Rebekah Busby of Rushville attending Southern Illinois University – Carbondale
- Molly Henderson of Golden attending University of Illinois – Springfield
- Kylin McQuay of Kinderhook attending Illinois State University
- Truman Phillips of Warsaw attending John Wood Community College
- Mason Royer of Macomb attending Maryville University – St Louis
- Eric Schnidt of Rubicon, WI attending Western Illinois University
- Natalie Seals of Quincy attending John Wood Community College
- Mariska Sheurman of Griggsville attending Quincy University
- Dalton Sheurman of Griggsville attending Bradley University
- Aive Smith of Quincy attending Taylor University
- Kenlee Welsh of Sciota attending Illinois College
The students were selected based on their accomplishments, their family situation and referral letters.
