Friends of the Carthage Public Library annual meeting scheduled for Thursday

CARTHAGE, Ill. — The Friends of the Carthage Public Library annual meeting will be held beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, in the welcome center of Trinity Lutheran Church, 709 Main.

Special guest Joyce Buckert from the Hancock County Historical Society will share with attendees a look at the historical collage of barns and other agricultural buildings that once stood and still stand within the county. The publication, “Farm Barns and Structures, 1830-1940, Hancock County, Illinois,” will be highlighted during the meeting.

A report from the nominating committee regarding officers, a summary of the past year’s activities and an update on the new library construction project will be on the agenda for the evening. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited to attend. 

Library supporters are encouraged to buy an annual Friends membership. Membership applications can be picked up at the library or obtained at the annual meeting event.
