Good Samaritan Home to be site of model railroad open house, craft fair on Dec. 2-3
QUINCY — The Quincy Society of Model Engineers is preparing for the return of the model railroad open house for the first time since the pandemic.
This free event will take place from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2 and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, at Good Samaritan Home model railroad room and town hall.
People can view numerous model railroad layouts or displays as well as ask questions and pick up information. A crafts and baked goods fair will be held in the social room. Attendees may park in lots along Harrison Street and follow signs through the facility after coming in through the main entrance.
The Good Samaritan General Store will be open, selling snacks and drinks along with T-shirts/sweatshirts. Some of the crafts and baked goods sales will benefit Good Samaritan to support the outstanding care of our residents.
In a press release, Jeannie McLeod, administrator and CEO for Good Samaritan, said, “We are excited to welcome back the Quincy Society of Model Engineers for their open house as well as host vendors for this combined event for the community. I’m sure this will inspire a whole new generation of model train enthusiasts. Come join us for this special holiday event for everyone.”
Good Samaritan Home is an award winning non-profit continuing care retirement community serving West-Central Illinois and the surrounding area since 1957. Craft vendors who want to participate may also contact Nathan Halfpap, assistant director of development, at 217-779-3141 for more information.
