Two Rivers Regional Council expands workforce services from four counties to nine

QUINCY — Two Rivers Regional Council of Public Officials (TRRC) recently was designated as the new recipient of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Title 1 grant for Local Workforce Innovation Area 14 (LWIA 14). This funding will enable TRRC to broaden its workforce development services across a nine-county region in western Illinois, encompassing Adams, Brown, Hancock, Pike, Schuyler, Henderson, Knox, McDonough, and Warren counties.

As the lead agency for LWIA 14, TRRC will oversee the administration of WIOA programs aimed at assisting low-income adults, dislocated workers and people aged 16–24. Services will include vocational training, job placement assistance, Illinois high school diploma preparation, work-based learning opportunities and supportive services such as childcare and transportation.

These initiatives are designed to equip people with the skills and resources necessary to secure sustainable employment in high-growth, high-demand industries.

“This transition represents a significant milestone for workforce development in our region. TRRC is proud to expand our role and collaborate with regional partners to lead LWIA 14 forward, building on a strong foundation while advancing access to jobs, training and support through innovative, community-focused services that meet individuals where they are,” TRRC Executive Director Jeremy Oshner said in a press release.

TRRC’s expanded role builds upon its longstanding commitment to community development and support. TRRC will add offices in Macomb and Galesburg to assist customers, and it already has offices established in Quincy, Mount Sterling, Pittsfield and Rushville.
