MACOMB, Ill. — The City of Macomb’s Holiday Light Show will return to the gazebo in Chandler Park in downtown Macomb at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22.

The official lighting of Chandler Park to kick off “Dickens on the Square” will occur at approximately 6:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1. As Santa arrives in Macomb on the Santa Zephyr Express, Macomb city councilman John Vigezzi, standing in for Mayor Michael Inman, will assist Monte Colley, designer of the show, in flipping the light switch in Chandler Park to start the holiday festivities.

Citizens and visitors can take in the holiday light show from 5 to 10 p.m. daily through Jan. 1.

In a press release, marketing and downtown development director Savannah Ballard said, “The love and excitement for the Holiday Light Show seems to grow every year.”

“We are thrilled to provide a new holiday tradition for Macomb residents and tourists,” Inman said.

The show has been designed and coordinated by Colley for the past three years. He said four songs have been added to this year’s display. The music accompanying the show can be heard at 89.1 FM on the radio.

The light show contains a sequence of flashing lights which may affect citizens susceptible to photo sensitivities.
