Horizons Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry receives $3,000 from Melrose Chapel United Methodist Church
QUINCY — Melrose Chapel United Methodist Church has shared $3,000 from the proceeds raised from its 149th annual Strawberry Festival held in June with Horizons Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry.
At the presentation of a check to Horizons in early July, members of the Melrose Chapel social concerns committee said they had an exceedingly successful Strawberry Festival this year with more than 700 patrons in the dining room and more than 100 in the carryout line.
An unidentified member of the festival planning committee noted, “We at Melrose Chapel have always believed that we have received blessings from God, and it is important to share those blessings with others. Our festival has always been designed to not only celebrate with the community but for the community as well. The festival has always been an enjoyable event for the whole family, and we appreciate the 149 years our community has supported us.”
Next year’s Strawberry Festival is scheduled for Saturday, June 7.
