Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County

QUINCY — The Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County’s annual meeting will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 22, in the Stained Glass Gallery of the History Museum on the Square, 332 Maine. The business portion of the meeting is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. followed by a tour of the museum’s construction project around 1:30 pm.

The agenda will be:

  • the election of officers and directors;
  • approval of the annual financial report;
  • approval of the budget for the upcoming year;
  • a report by the society’s president; and
  • standing committee reports on such areas as building and grounds, exhibits, programs and education.

Following the meeting, at approximately 2 p.m., area historian Reg Ankrom will present a program on early Adams County history, including a discussion on the society’s recently released book, “Tales of John Wood and His Adams County.” Ankrom was the driving force behind the book, which focuses on stories from Quincy founder John Wood’s era that have been published in the society’s “Once Upon a Time” column in The Quincy Herald-Whig.

Light refreshments will be served after the program.

The annual meeting and program are both free and open to the public as well as the organization’s membership.
