Inaugural Gem City Fall Festival set for Saturday at HyVee on Harrison
QUINCY — Hy-Vee on Harrison will be the host of the inaugural Gem City Fall Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30 to celebrate the turning of the seasons.
“We will have a big initiative to provide as many flu shots as possible,” said Brian Jansen, store manager at the 12th and Harrison location. “Our goal is 1000.”
Proceeds from Hy-Vee’s hot food sales that day will be donated to Quincy Notre Dame and Quanada.
There will be plenty of activities for adults and children.
Food trucks and live bands will be there, along with a local vendor fair. A pumpkin toss and a watermelon eating contest will be held, with cash prizes available.
Kids can touring the Air EVAC helicopter, fire trucks and police cars. Other activities available will be bounce houses, carnival games and face painting.
Jansen feels the event is an extension of the atmosphere that Hy-Vee promotes at its two Quincy locations.
“This company is very family oriented,” he said. “We like to do events like this to give the community something to do on a Saturday afternoon. We hope to see a lot of families come on out.”
