Josie Basket Project to hold bingo night on Friday at Machinists Lodge

QUINCY — A bingo night being held Friday, March 28, at the Machinists Lodge, 2929 N. Fifth, will benefit the Josie Basket Project. The event was originally scheduled for March 15 but canceled due to weather.
A basket auction also will be held during the evening. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with bingo beginning at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $20 for 10 games. Daubers will be sold for $3 each. Snacks and soft drinks will be available for purchase. Participants can bring alcoholic beverages. The Platt Daddy BBQ food truck will also be on site.
The Josie Basket Project, a 501(c)(3) organization, was created by the family of Josie Amelia Edwards who was “born sleeping” on March 25, 2018. Grief baskets are prepared and given to families who have to leave Blessing Hospital without a child in their arms.
The organization helps people who have lost a child five years old or younger deal with grief from the loss and also partners with Harrison Monuments to offer assistance in buying headstones as funds are available. The Josie Basket Project also provides free grief literature to parents who attend the Blessing Hospital Bereaved Parents Support Group, which meets on the first Thursday of each month.
Monetary contributions to help fund the baskets are accepted year-round and can be made using PayPal at @josiebasketproject.
