Karter K 5K Run/Walk fundraiser on Oct. 12 to help families after stillbirths
QUINCY — Registration is underway for the third annual Karter K 5K Run/Walk at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 on the Bill Klingner Trail in Quincy’s Bob Mays Park. The park is on North 18th between Seminary Road and Koch’s Lane.
This event helps Blessing Hospital maternity patients with medical expenses after a stillbirth. Karter’s family – his mother and father, Bridget and Levi Kennington, and his brother and sisters, Kalvin, Kennedy and Kora – created the fund after Karter was stillborn on Aug. 16, 2021.
To be guaranteed a T-shirt, register by Monday, Sept. 30. Visit https://stores.shirtshack.us/karter_k_5k_2024/shop/home to register for the race or buy a T-shirt or use the QR code below. Registration will be accepted through the day of the race at Bob Mays Park. Medals will be awarded to the top runners in each age group.
“Starting this fund has brought so much joy to my family’s heart,” Bridget Reich-Kennington said in a press release. “Not only do we get to continue to keep Karter’s name alive, but we get to help others with the pain and grief that my family has also suffered.”
The Karter K Fund is managed by the Blessing Foundation, a member of the Blessing Health System.
