Keynote speakers announced for Chaddock’s Trauma-Informed, Relationship-Focused Schools conference March 5-6

QUINCY — The Trauma-Informed, Relationship-Focused Schools conference at Chaddock’s Dr. Debbie Reed Center for Excellence on March 5-6 promises to deliver impactful sessions for educators, administrators and professionals committed to creating trauma-informed and resilient schools.
This year’s keynote speakers are:
Leslie Hansen Vigor, director of social-emotional learning at ROE1, will present on “Proactive Use of Restorative Practices: Building Stronger Communities.” Vigor brings more than 26 years of experience in education and leads the Area 3 SEL Hub in Illinois. She directs a coaching team focused on advancing social-emotional learning and trauma-informed practices across 20 counties in West Central Illinois. Her session will delve into restorative practices and their role in building stronger, more connected communities.
Sarah Goodapple and Olivia Voss will present on “The Power of Puppets.” Goodapple, a family coach with Chaddock Foster and Adoption Services, and Voss, a clinical therapist at Chaddock, will introduce Chaddock’s new puppet troupe. Their session will explore how puppets can support children and young people in developing healthy relationships and healing from trauma.
Jared Scott will present on “The Culture Shift Tour. Scott, a counselor, speaker and creator of the Culture Shift Tour, has worked with more than 1,000 schools nationwide. Drawing from personal experiences with trauma, Scott equips educators with practical strategies to build relationship-centered, trauma-informed school environments.
Karen C. Simms will present on “Building Resilient Communities: The Power of Collaboration.” Simms, an experienced consultant and founder of the Trauma and Resilience Initiative, will explore the Trauma Sensitive Schools framework by the Trauma and Learning Policy Initiative. Her session will emphasize collaboration, brain-based practices, resilience and restorative approaches to foster safety and well-being for students and educators alike.
