Learn more about Quincy Police Department through Citizen Police Academy beginning March 13
QUINCY — The Quincy Police Department is taking applications for the spring 2024 Citizen Police Academy class. This class is 10 weeks in length and begins on Wednesday, March 13, with the classes meeting from 6 to 9 p.m. Most classes are held at Quincy City Hall. There is no charge to attend.
During the class, participants will not only learn about all aspects of the Quincy Police Department but also have an opportunity to participate in hands-on activities. Some of the class topics are canine unit, DUI practical and mock vehicle stops, Emergency Response Team, crime scene investigation and drug enforcement. There also is an optional range day, and class participants will have the opportunity to ride along with a QPD officer on patrol.
To be eligible for the course, applicants must either live in Quincy, work or go to school in Quincy or own property in Quincy. Applicants must also be at least 18 years of age.
