MACOMB, Ill. — The annual luncheon of the League of Women Voters of McDonough County will be held at noon Wednesday, July 12, in the Old Dairy private dining room. Macomb Transit Director Miranda Lambert will be the guest speaker.

The public is invited to buy food and hear Lambert describe plans for Macomb’s transportation system. Guests should order and pay for their food at the counter, then join the group in the large back room.

Lambert served in the Peace Corps in the Republic of Georgia and then earned a master’s degree at Western Illinois University.  She interned for the city of Macomb, Genesis Garden and Good Food Collaborative.

The Andrea Bowen Action for Democracy Award will be presented at the luncheon to the Royal Academy of Macomb. The award will be classroom games about the Constitution and prizes for those passing the Constitution test. Bowen was a longtime member and officer of the league. She especially focused on involving young people in the political process.
