CARTHAGE, Ill. — March is National Nutrition Month, and Memorial Hospital is celebrating with an initiative to promote healthy eating and highlight how food brings people together. This year’s theme, “Food Connects Us,” emphasizes the power of nutrition in fostering community, health and well-being.

To support this theme, Memorial Hospital’s Health and Wellness Center is launching a video series featuring chef Amber Clark and registered dietitians Ashlyn Housewright, Kara Andrew and Julie Shoemaker. These engaging videos will showcase easy, nutritious meals that employees and community members can prepare at home.

As part of Memorial Hospital’s employee wellness challenge, staff members will be encouraged to watch the videos, try the featured recipes and actively participate in improving their health. The challenge also extends to the surrounding communities, inviting individuals to participate at home by making these simple, wholesome meals and experiencing the benefits of healthy eating firsthand.

“Food has the power to bring us together, whether in our homes, workplaces or communities,” Ashlyn Housewright, executive director of Community Health and Wellness at Memorial Hospital, said in a press release. “Through this video series, we hope to inspire our employees and community members to embrace nutrition in a way that is easy, affordable and fun.”

National Nutrition Month is an annual campaign created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to encourage informed food choices and the development of healthy eating habits.

The video series is featured on the @Memorial Hospital in Carthage, IL Facebook page.
