CARTHAGE, Ill. — Memorial Hospital has instituted a new procedural change designed to improve the check-in process for patients scheduled for surgery. Effective June 25, all surgery patients will check in at the front desk under the clock tower at the hospital’s main entrance.

Surgery patients previously checked in at the emergency room registration before proceeding to the surgery waiting room. This update is part of the hospital’s continuous efforts to streamline patient services and improve the overall experience at Memorial Hospital.

Under the new procedure, patients scheduled for surgery will:

  • Check-in at the front desk: Upon arrival, patients should proceed to the main entrance located under the clock tower and check in at the front desk.
  • Wait in the main lobby: After checking in, patients and family members will wait in the main lobby which provides a comfortable and convenient environment for patients and their families.

There will be exceptions to this new procedure. Patients will be notified if alternative check-in instructions apply to their case.
