CARTHAGE, Ill. — Memorial Hospital was the recipient of 27 breakthrough awards at the annual Custom Learning Systems (CLS) HealthCare Service Excellence Conference at the Rosen Centre in Orlando, Fla.

These awards are based on patient experience survey scores for HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems), ED CAHPS (Emergency Department Consumer Assessment of Providers and Systems),and CG CAHPS (Clinician and Group Consumer Assessment of Providers and Systems). These surveys are sent to Memorial patients after receiving care.

For the HCAHPS section, Memorial Hospital received 14 awards of excellence for achieving survey scores higher than the national averages in the areas of communication with doctors, discharge information, transition of care, communication with nurses and communication about medicines, response of hospital staff, hospital environment, quiet, rate hospital, recommend the hospital, response of hospital staff and transition of care.

For the ED CAHPS section, Memorial Hospital received seven awards of excellence for higher than national average survey scores in the areas of doctors and nurses communication, communication about medication, additional rating quest, rate ER care 0-10, recommend the ER, communication about follow-up and getting timely care.

For the CG CAHPS section, Memorial Medical Clinics received six awards of excellence for higher than national average survey scores in the areas of recommend this office, rate provider, physician communication quality, office staff quality, care coordination and access to care.
