QUINCY — The Quincy Medical Group (QMG) Foundation has announced that the 25th annual Bridge the Gap to Health Race raised more than $70,000 to support individuals and families across the region through its Community Impact Fund.

For 25 years, Bridge the Gap has united the community in a shared mission to improve lives—and this year was no exception. With record participation since the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2025 event celebrated its milestone year with renewed energy, a powerful turnout and a lasting impact.

A portion of this year’s funds will go toward purchasing an industrial-grade food rescue truck for Horizons Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry. This vital addition will expand Horizons’ ability to collect surplus food from over 20 local businesses—an estimated 530,000 pounds of food valued at more than $900,000. The truck will ensure that fresh, nutritious meals reach those facing food insecurity in our community.

In a press release, said Morgan Parker, director of Community Relations and the Foundation at QMG, said, “Every mile participants ran this year will help drive service to our neighbors. This truck will allow Horizons to serve more people with dignity and hope.”

Beyond the Horizons initiative, race proceeds will support the QMG Foundation’s Community Impact Fund, which empowers local nonprofits and schools to apply for grant funding focused on three core areas: community development, health initiatives and youth programs. The QMG Foundation will soon open the Bridge the Gap grant window to accept applications specifically for capital projects that align with these focus areas.

In addition to funding, the foundation is deeply invested in hands-on community impact projects—offering time, resources and expertise to transform local spaces. From improving recreational areas to partnering on neighborhood enhancements, these projects reflect the foundation’s commitment to lasting, visible change.

Another portion of the race proceeds will benefit patient assistance, supporting individuals facing urgent, health-related financial needs. This critical program ensures that patients never have to choose between their care and basic living expenses—bridging the gap when it matters most.

“The beauty of Bridge the Gap is that it supports people from all walks of life—whether you’re a child, a struggling parent, a patient in need or a community member working to build something better,” added Parker. “Every step our participants took this year created a ripple effect of lasting impact.”

The success of this special 25th anniversary event would not have been possible without the hundreds of runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors and community members who continue to show up year after year. Together, we are bridging the gaps—now and for the future.
