More than $9,000 in health scholarships offered by Health and Wellness Foundation of Pike County

PITTSFIELD, Ill. — The Health and Wellness Foundation of Pike County is accepting applications for its health and wellness scholarships being offered for the 2024-25 school year.

Six different scholarships totaling $9,300 in support of health professions are offered to Pike County students or residents. The foundation’s array of scholarship options encourages and financially supports people considering a career in a health, fitness or wellness field of study, including areas such as nursing, public health, physical therapy, oral health, medical records or pharmacy.

All scholarship applications, eligibility requirements and funding guidelines can be downloaded from the foundation’s website at www.hwfpc.org or by email at ichcf@aol.com. The deadline for submitting scholarship applications is April 1, with recipients announced later in April.

The following scholarships are currently available from the foundation:

  • John S. Teuscher Health Occupation Scholarship: two $1,000 scholarships available to graduating Pike County seniors toward an undergraduate degree in a health-related field.
  • Allan A. Seiler Fitness and Wellness Scholarship: one $300 scholarship available to a graduating Pike County senior toward an undergraduate degree in a fitness or wellness related field.
  • John S. Teuscher Continuing Education Scholarship: one $1,000 scholarship available to a Pike County individual already pursuing an undergraduate degree in a health field (may be received for up to three successive years).
  • Dr. James Grote Post-Graduate Degree Scholarship: one $2,000 scholarship available to a Pike County person pursuing a masters/post-graduate degree in a health-related profession (may be received for up to three successive years).
  • John S. Teuscher Workforce Retraining Scholarship: one $1,000 Scholarship available to a person in the workplace and seeking further education or supplementary training toward a health degree or para-health certificate.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant Training Scholarship: four $750 scholarships are offered annually to Pike County residents toward tuition for John Wood Community College’s certified nurse assistant certificate program.

Scholarships and grants provided by the Health and Wellness Foundation of Pike County are made possible in part by donations or bequests. As a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public charity solely dedicated to serving the health and wellness needs of Pike County, donations to HWFPC are tax-deductible as allowable by law.
