Muddy River Riders book bag fundraiser to be held April 27 on the Knights of Columbus grounds
QUINCY — Muddy River Riders Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, will hold its ninth annual Blessing of the Bikes from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, at the Knights of Columbus grounds.
This event is a fundraiser for the book bag program the club does every fall. The group distributes book bags full of school supplies to area schools to be handed out to kids who come to school without the supplies they need.
The club filled more than 500 bags last fall. They were divided among the elementary buildings and Head Start in Quincy as well as Payson, Liberty, Camp Point, Hannibal (Mo.) and Highland (Mo.) Elementary. Supplies were taken to the LaGrange, Mo., Youth Center for their back-to-school night.
The event will offer fun activities and entertainment throughout the day. The group also hopes to raise motorcycle awareness.
Any person, group or business interested in donating can contact Craig Cottingham at 217-430-2638 or club president Eddie Griffin at 217-316-1640.
