No one injured in overnight house fire Friday in Macomb

MACOMB, Ill. — No one was injured in a house fire on Friday morning in Macomb.

The Macomb Fire Department was dispatched at 3:44 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, to a house full of smoke at 202 W. Carroll. Upon arrival, crews reported light smoke emitting from the structure. The home was reported to be vacant. The initial crew made entry and located fire on the first floor and made an initial knockdown. The structure was ventilated. The fire was located on the second and third floors and was extinguished.

The structure has fire, smoke, and water damage throughout. The estimated loss is $50,000.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and is under investigation by the Macomb Fire Department.

Five on-duty Macomb firefighters initially responded with an additional seven off-duty firefighters called back to assist on scene and cover any additional calls for service. The Macomb-McDonough County Communications Center, Macomb Illinois Police Department, Lifeguard Ambulance Service of Illinois and Ameren for assistance. The scene was cleared at 7:06 a.m.
