Nominations open for United Way of Adams County Joe Bonansinga Community Service Award

QUINCY — The Joe Bonansinga “Mr. Quincy” Community Service Award, named after its first recipient in 1998, is presented annually by United Way of Adams County and the Rotary Club of Quincy to honor those who exemplify the highest standards of community service.
Traditionally awarded to an individual, this year the recognition has expanded to include businesses that demonstrate a strong commitment to community impact aligned with the United Way mission to inspire, unite and empower the people of Adams County to reach their full human potential.
Nominations are open through April 7. The award will be presented at the Rotary Club meeting on Tuesday, May 20.
This award honors exceptional community leaders and businesses demonstrating:
- Leading by example in service
- Inspiring and motivating others
- Making a measurable impact
- Demonstrating long-term commitment
- Showing selfless dedication to helping others
Mr. Bonansinga embodied these qualities with humility and dedication, receiving numerous accolades. He often spoke about his love for community service and his desire to make Quincy a better place. He once said, “I hope I can encourage young people to keep doing this and carry on using one word that describes success for me — persistence.”
In a press release, Jenna Hull, executive director of United Way of Adams County, said recognizing both people and businesses allows the organization to celebrate the many ways Quincy is strengthened through service.
“Whether through volunteerism, leadership or dedicated resources, these contributions uphold the legacy of Joe Bonansinga and inspire others to continue making a difference.”
Area civic, business, church and service agency leaders are encouraged to nominate people or businesses making a significant impact. Nominations are open through Monday, April 7; and forms are available at http://www.unitedwayadamsco.org or at the United Way of Adams County office, 936 Broadway, Suite F.
